Intro

Each course participant can create his own watch with the help of the master watchmaker of Initium in Le Noirmont.

The watchmaker's art is a closely-guarded secret. Enter the fascinating world of miniaturised mechanisms, the symbol of Swiss expertise around the world with the help oft the master watchmaker who shares experience gained with the region's foremost manufactures. For a few enthralling hours, it is possible to become a watchmaker and produce his own mechanical watch.

Make your own Swiss watch in a Swiss watchmaking factory in the heart of the Jura mountains

Initium offers you an immersion into the fascinating world of watchmaking. Thanks to the practical and theoretical teachings of a master watchmaker, you will unravel the mysteries of a mechanical, automatic or tourbillon movement. With screwdrivers and tweezers in hand, you will feel the heartbeat of the watch you assemble yourself.
The workshop can accommodate up to 12 people (we welcome groups of up to 12 people in our workshops, and up to 100 people at a location of your choice). Several types of courses are available, ranging from a simple introduction to watchmaking (lasting 1.5 to 3 hours) to the complete assembly of a mechanical watch (lasting half a day to a full day). Participants choose the components for their watch from a wide range of Swiss-made movements, cases, dials, hands and high-end straps.

Larger groups can also choose 3-hour introductions to watchmaking, where they will have the opportunity to disassemble and assemble a working movement, allowing them to fully understand how a mechanical movement works.

Engravings on the back of the watch can also be arranged in advance of the course, upon request.
These courses can be held at the Initium workshops in Le Noirmont and Geneva, but can also be organised anywhere in Switzerland.
