A journey of discovery through history and nature.
Davos is a perfect combination of culture, history, nature and relaxation. During a guided tour, you will gain a deep insight into the history of Davos and its importance as a former health resort for tuberculosis patients. You will also take the legendary funicular railway up to the Schatzalp - a special experience where you can enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery of Davos to the full.
Once on the Schatzalp, visit the famous Hotel Schatzalp, which was once known as a tuberculosis clinic. Enjoy a warming punch on the hotel's sun terrace and be enchanted by the view of the majestic Alps. Your guide will tell you stories about famous guests such as the writer Thomas Mann, who immortalised the atmosphere and life in such a clinic in his novel The Magic Mountain, and the painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, who was inspired by the landscape around Davos.
The Schatzalp has also been used as a location for numerous well-known films - your guide will reveal exciting details about these productions.
At the end of this cultural programme, you have the option of either walking back to the village on the Thomas Mann Trail or enjoying a speedy descent on a Davos toboggan in the traditional way.
