Intro
Oberhofen Castle with its medieval keep and lake tower is located on the shore of Lake Thun. The castle, which dates back to the early 13th century, houses a living museum. The large castle park is supposed to be one of the most magnificent in the region of the Alps.
Exhibits ranging from neo-Gothic dining rooms to knights' suits of armor to a Turkish smoking parlor: the exhibit rooms of the living museum display Bernese residential culture dating back to the time period of the 16th to the 19th century. The castle chapel with its wall paintings from the late 15th century can still be used today for baptisms and marriages.
A 2.5 hectare large park, that was created around 1840 and impressively illustrates the various fashions in the history of garden art, is located next to the castle. Striking groups of trees, exotic groves, colorful flower arrangements, the picturesque little tower and the view of the imposing mountain landscape above the lake make this garden one of the most photographed gardens for newlyweds.

The castles of Thun, Oberhofen and Spiez on Lake Thun invite families to immerse themselves in the world of the middle ages. On the knight's trail, pageboys and varlets can learn how to be knights and ladies.
