The Clock Tower Zytglogge at a glance
The medieval clock tower has stood in the heart of Bern's old town since the 13th century. After a fire in 1405, it was converted into a clock tower. The clockwork from 1530 drives the famous play of figures with a bear train, jester and crowing rooster. On the hour, onlookers gather in front of the tower.
