The Fortress of Bellinzona at a glance

The fortress of Bellinzona consists of 3 castles: Castel Grande, Montebello and Sasso Corbaro, as well as the city walls "Murata". They once secured access to the most important Alpine passes, including the Gotthard. Castel Grande houses a museum on the history of the city. Since 2000, the ensemble has been an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
