Grossmünster – Church
Overview
Intro
The Grossmünster is Zurich's landmark. You will visit the Romanesque church, climb the Karlsturm and discover the medieval stained glass windows – right in the heart of the old town, between Limmat and Niederdorf.
The Grossmünster at a glance
The Romanesque double-towered church has shaped the silhouette of Zurich since the 12th century. The Grossmünster was a centre of the Zurich Reformation under Huldrych Zwingli. Worth seeing are the modern stained glass windows by Augusto Giacometti in the choir and the crypt with a figure of Charles from the Middle Ages. The Karlsturm can be climbed for a fee.
