The two wedding venues, Huus Bären and Huus Löwen, can be found at the heart of the village of Gonten, in one of the most romantic areas of Switzerland. Something extraordinary has been created here in Appenzell Innerrhoden. With a wonderfully traditional yet modern architectural language, exclusive premises, culinary delights and 44 richly designed rooms and suites are united under one roof. In the new Huus Löwen, up to 60 guests can celebrate this most special of days for the happy couple. In fine weather, the hotel garden can be used for drinks and the reception.
The HUUS BÄREN is the origin of the APPENZELL HUUS Resort in Gonten and one of the most traditional inns in Switzerland. In the middle of the power region of Appenzellerland, the "Heemelige" 3-star superior hotel with a history dating back to 1602 offers a unique combination of tradition and modernity. After a comprehensive renovation, the HUUS BÄREN reopened its doors in summer 2020 with 12 single and double rooms, junior suites and suites in alpine Appenzeller chic. A special challenge, but also a great added value, was the installation of the sauna oasis and the day spa under the wooden roof.
A comfortable pleasure: the luxurious box spring beds with a hay drawer at the head end. This traditional detail makes you believe that hay is oozing out from behind the glass – country life at its best. Original is the ceiling height of 1.80 meters in some of the vintage rooms. Each room is individually designed, but no one has to do without a flat-screen TV and radio. Further proof of the attention to detail is the Appenzell mineral water and hiking backpack, which await travellers in their rooms.
In 2023, at the same time as the renovation of the 4-star superior HUUS LÖWEN and the new construction of the 5-star superior HUUS QUELL in the APPENZELLER HUUS, a number of things were embellished and renewed. Since then, the HUUS BÄREN has been in possession of a beautiful tavern in a new look, a generous breakfast buffet and a practical lift, which can now comfortably accompany guests to the 3rd floor.
