Textile manufacturing has shaped St. Gallen for centuries. The ambition, foresight and creativity of export merchants led the city to a leading position in both the linen trade and the embroidery industry. The magnificent buildings and opulent façades, as well as the collection of the Textile Museum, bear witness to this.
