ITI World Symposium, May 2017

“The ITI World Symposium at Messe Basel was a complete success! The marvellous range of functions installed in the hall, the modern infrastructure and the superb cooperation with the Messe Basel team all made a considerable contribution to that” was the feedback received from the PCO, Interplan. ITI itself heaped even further praise on top of that: “Basel was the best possible location for our international mega-meeting. Messe Basel was a great partner for the meeting: flexible, understanding, efficient and creative.” Highlights

17th EFORT annual congress, June 2016

DGHO Annual Conference, October 2015

The annual conference of the Austrian, German and Swiss Societies of Haematology and Medical Oncology (DGHO) has come to a successful close after five days with 5500 participants. Europe's most important group of experts – the oncologists of the German-speaking world – stage their annual conference in the Congress Center Basel every four years, and this is the biggest specialist conference being held in this exceptionally intensive Basel congress autumn of 2015.

From 9 to 13 October 2015, a total of 5500 experts in haematology and medical oncology discussed current research results and challenges in the treatment of blood diseases and cancer. The annual conference of the Austrian, German and Swiss Societies of Haematology and Medical Oncology (DGHO), the most eminent group of oncology experts in German-speaking Europe, is being led this year by congress president Dr. med. Martin Wernli of Aarau Cantonal Hospital. "For Switzerland as a research location, it is important that the DGHO annual conference be held on a regular basis in Switzerland too. During past conferences we have held here, Basel has proved itself to be an ideal location", explains Dr. Wernli in assessing the importance of the event in Basel.

ITI World Symposium in Geneva, April 2014

Video Testimonial from Prof. Daniel Buser, ITI Past President
Daniel Buser is a professor of oral surgery and an implant specialist at the University of Bern and a member of the organising committee of the ITI World Symposium. The ITI (International Team for Implantology) is the largest association in the field of dental implant therapy, with more than 15,000 members worldwide. The ITI World Symposium, held every three to four years to discuss the latest developments in the field, brought more than 4,000 participants to Geneva in 2014.

“We got great help and support by the Geneva Convention Bureau,” says Prof. Buser. “It’s important to have this local support since the organisation of such a large congress is a major challenge, even for the ITI.”

Various factors influenced the choice of venue. “Switzerland is centrally located, easily reachable from all continents,” says Prof. Buser. The city of Geneva has a vast choice of hotel accommodation; the exhibition venue, Palexpo, is just ten minutes’ walk from the airport and 15 minutes by bus from the city centre.

“The people at Palexpo are very knowledgeable and supportive,” adds Prof. Buser. “I hope that we can come back to Geneva again when we will be offering our next ITI world symposium in 2017.”
